Note: This visual novel is for non-commercial purposes only. It's a test project I made to learn Ren'Py and to share with prospective collaborators. If you'd like to support creators, please check out the links of the artists and musicians who made this work possible below!

Sally Entwhistle feels like she's waking up from a nightmare. After years of struggling with mental health issues, crippling indecision, and a difficult stay at an inpatient facility, she's finally made it to college and started putting her life together. She thinks she's found a fresh start in developing her friendship (and possible romance?) with her roommate, Marika. But things change when her ex-boyfriend, Danny, enters the picture. Now Sally feels torn between the two. Who should she choose? Does she have to choose at all?

Terrapin Crossing is a short dating sim visual novel made in Ren'Py. It has several possible endings depending on choices you make throughout the story. While most will take you to a predetermined ending, there is one "good ending" that can only be accessed by reading all the way to the end. How do you get there? Well, guess we'll find out!

This game features...

  • A female protagonist
  • Two love interests
  • Five possible endings
  • Length: ~10k words
  • Playtime: 1 hour

Content Warnings: References to past suicidal behavior and ideations, depression, OCD, swearing, hostile romantic breakups, mild sexual/romantic references.

So I had to play through this because I found it through Puppetbomb's pack, and this was too cute! All of the characters had their own personalities, and there was so much dialogue that either made me smile or feel so much for them. Sally is an adorable protagonist, and I love that during the choices you make, you can see just how her mental state is changing and how she really feels. I couldn't play through any of the other endings after I got the Good Ending because it was just that.. well, good!

There was a part though during the scene where Sally and Danny are going to the lake after reuniting that I believe the coding got a little screwy because it kept displaying Sally's name when Danny was speaking. But otherwise? I had a ball, and was fully immersed the whole time!

Great job!
